How far in advance do we need to engage?

The discovery call should happen six to eight weeks before the TAR start date. That gives us time to complete a paid RF survey, issue a fixed-price proposal, and have devices provisioned before the van stages. For fall Gulf Coast TARs, we are typically in conversation by late summer.

Does the network work inside classified areas?

Accepted Answer

The van stages outside classified areas — it does not enter C1D2 zones. Private 5G coverage from the mast reaches into the work zone. All ignition-source permitting and generator placement are handled before the van arrives, and our operator works within your facility permit-to-work system.

Question 3

Can contractor crews use their own devices on the private network?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The private 5G network supports contractor-owned smartphones and tablets on CBRS-capable devices. For areas requiring intrinsically safe equipment, we supply IS-rated leased handsets and tablets provisioned before arrival.

How does the network integrate with existing plant IT/OT infrastructure?

Accepted Answer

It does not touch your plant network unless you want it to. Starlink provides a fully independent backhaul path. If integration with plant systems is in scope, we document it in the site survey and design a clean separation between the TAR network and the OT network.

Question 5

What happens if we need to extend the turnaround?

Day-rate extensions are priced in the contract. A one-call extension request keeps the operator on site and the network live. It does not come down until you say the unit is restarted.

Does the platform work where there is no cell signal at all?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Starlink provides primary backhaul independent of any ground carrier. The van brings the network to the pad, pipeline, or mine — no existing infrastructure required. In areas with partial carrier coverage, the router bonds Starlink and cellular automatically and fails over without a session drop.

Can the van support SCADA and OT traffic alongside crew communications?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with proper segmentation. SCADA and sensor traffic run on an isolated VLAN, separate from crew devices and Wi-Fi. The site assessment documents integration requirements and the segmentation design before the van arrives.
